Flowers

Author Sarah Traynor.

I love a wedding with personality, so much so I dedicated 16 pages of the book to my favourite subject - flowers and decorations! With a little thought and imagination this is an area where you really can make an impact, however small the budget.

Using a Florist

It is highly recommended that you use a florist for your wedding, even if it is just for a paid consultation/lesson before doing it yourself. A good florist will warn you about things not to do if you are going down the DIY route, such as, don’t leave the flowers till the morning of the wedding!

DIY Flowers – Are you committed?

Before embarking on doing your own flowers ask yourself this:

ú         How much will you save? - is this figure worth the time and stress

involved? (when you could be sipping Champagne with your guests the day before).

ú         Have you considered other ways of saving money; cutting back on transport costs, buying your dress online?

ú         Could you do your own bouquets and have the larger displays done professionally? This reduces the potential for disaster.

ú         Have you considered alternatives to flowers? Pot plants, ribbon, silk flowers, feathers, fruits and branches.

OK - then

If you are going ahead with it you need to be sure you will have the time to give to it the week of your wedding and the morning of your wedding. Make sure you get support from your husband to be and bridesmaids. If you don’t have support doing this, reconsider. The florist’s fee may not seem so high when your hands are scratched raw as you sit crying in a storm of petals.

Can it be easy? It does work out well for many couples. If you decide to do the bouquets only it might just be a matter of gathering the flowers you order from a wholesaler the day before the wedding and putting them in a safe place. Reviews of www.flowers4florists.com have been very positive on Irish wedding sites.
